CHISO Co., Ltd. http://www.chiso.co.jp/

Chiso was originally founded in 1555, the year of the Battle of Kawanakajima, when Yozaemon Chigiriya, the founder, commenced the trading of canonical dresses from Muromachi-Sanjo in Kyoto. In the Genroku Period of the Edo Era, dyed fabrics and short-sleeve kimono garments with the extensive application of the yuzen silk printing technique were manufactured and sold to the Imperial household and noble families. The excellent skills of Chiso have long been inherited through the Edo, Meiji and Showa Eras up to today and Chiso as a brand has been continually evolving and is adored by kimono lovers. The manufacturing policy of Chiso is "the creation of beautiful items". While preserving the highly refined silk printing skills of Kyoto, Chiso is striving to develop printed silk incorporating new techniques. Special attention is paid to the selection of materials, culminating in the production of original white fabric in the Tango District, to ensure the beautiful coloring of the printed silk. The unique grace and beauty and the high quality of Chiso products are the result of a total commitment to a rigorous manufacturing philosophy.
